Steps to RECOVERY

  • Depending on the size of the event, it could take up to 72 hours before help reaches you.  Always have an emergency kit ready so you are prepared for any disaster that may occur.  

  • When a disaster strikes, it can be overwhelming for individuals and families impacted. That’s why the Washington County EMA stands ready to assist you in your time of need. If a local state of emergency is declared by the city and/or county, we will immediately initiate our disaster response process. Our team has the necessary resources and training to provide assistance and support to those impacted by the disaster.

  • Washington County Emergency Management Agency is here to provide support and assistance to the community during a crisis. When a local state of emergency is declared, our team is ready to respond with prompt damage assessments, debris removal, and the opening of shelters. We work closely with local officials and the state governor's office to ensure a coordinated effort that keeps everyone safe and informed.

  • Washington County EMA is here to help you during times of crisis. We work closely with community partners to assess damage and provide assistance where it’s needed most. Our local emergency management team uses Crisis Track to streamline the assessment process and ensure we’re responding quickly and effectively. If you’ve been affected by a disaster, we encourage you to click the button below and complete the damage assessment so we can better serve you.

  • Washington County EMA is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens, especially in times of disaster. We ask that all citizens take an active role in disaster preparedness and mitigation efforts, including properly disposing of debris. To assist with the cleanup process, we have provided a graphic from FEMA to help you categorize debris prior to curbside removal. We appreciate your cooperation and dedication to the well-being of our community.

  • At WCEMA, we know that disaster can strike at any time, which is why we remain vigilant and prepared to respond quickly and effectively. Our primary shelter, the Washington County Convention Center, has all the necessary amenities to provide comfort and safety to those who need it. We continually update our site and notification system to inform our community of any other shelters that may open during major disasters.

  • In the event of a disaster, we work closely with local and state emergency management agencies to respond quickly and efficiently. Depending on the scale of the disaster, FEMA may provide financial assistance to those impacted. Our website will be regularly updated with any relevant links and information on how to apply for financial aid.
